Dr. Gihan Wikramanayake – Chairman

Dr. Gihan Wikramanayake, the current section chair having held the same position in 2007/08 and has served as a member of the Ex-committee since 2003. Dr. Wikramanayake is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Colombo School of Computing and is currently serving his 25th year at the university. He graduated from University of Colombo and obtained his MSc and PhD from University of Wales Cardiff. He has held positions in other associations such as CSSL and IEEE. He has been part of the National/International Olympiad in Informatics, National/International School's Software Competition, National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) and Young Computer Scientist. He chaired 2006 NBQSA judging and has been part of NBQSA judging process since its inception in 1998. He has been a member of the Asia Pacific ICT Awards judging panel on four occasions.

Ruwan Amarasekara - Hon. Secretary

Mr. Ruwan Amarasekara has been a Chartered member of BCS and obtained his MBA from University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He has a Post graduate Diploma in Marketing and is an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. He has been an Executive Committee Member of BCS Sri Lanka Section since 2004. He was extensively involved in organising and judging activities of National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) competition and was the chairman of the organising committees for years 2005 and 2006. He has over 17 years of experience in IT industry in the areas of IT Project Management, Software Development, System Integration and IT consultancy with both service providers and user organisations. He is currently employed as Business Systems Manager at SriLankan Airlines.

Nilu Rajapakse - Hon. Treasurer

Ms. Nilu Rajapakse holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Science and an MBA from University of Colombo and is a Member of BCS. She is currently the Deputy Director, HRD & Industrial Relations at Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL). Nilu possess over 14 years of progressive experience in Human Resource Development, IT Project Management, Marketing, Software Engineering and Accounting. She joined the BCS Sri Lanka Section executive committee in 2007. Nilu is a keen amateur photographer and nature lover, and Partner of the web portal www.zeylanica.com.

Mr. Sujeewa Dissanayake – Immediate Past Chairman

Mr. Sujeewa Dissanayake has been a Chartered member of BCS and obtained his MBA from University of Lincoln, UK. He became the Chairman of British Computer Society (BCS) Sri Lanka Section after serving in the committee for four years. He was extensively involved in organizing of National Best
Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) competition. Mr. Dissanayake is the Vice President – Head of Information Technology at NDB Bank PLC. Before joining the NDB Bank, Mr Dissanayake worked at Pan-Asia Bank and the Union Bank of Colombo as Head of IT. He came to banking from the IBM World Trade Corporation, where he was IT specialist for the finance industry. He has over 24 years experience in IT, 18 of which were acquired in the banking sector.

Dr. Dileepa de Silva – Past Chairman

Dr. Dileepa de Silva is an IT Management Consultant who has thirty years experience in the field of Information Technology and Engineering. He obtained a masters degree (MSc) in Engineering in 1975 and a doctorate (PhD) in Engineering in 1979. He is a Fellow Member of the British Computer Society, a Fellow Member of Chartered Management Institute of UK, Chartered IT Practitioner (CITP) and a Member of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka. He has wide experience in IT, General Management and Project Management. He was also a past Chairman of BCS Sri Lanka Section and the past President of Sri Lanka Association for Software Industry in Sri Lanka and has served as an expert/consultant in area of ICT in many committees in the public & private sector. Dr. de Silva was the Director General Manager of the Informatics Group of Companies.

He is a member of the advisory judging panel of Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA). He has participated in many ICT events in various countries and represented Sri Lanka in different forums. He has been involved in implementation of large scale software development projects in many countries and contributed immensely to the development process of ICT in Sri Lanka.

Niranjala Weerasinghe – Regional Manager

Ms. Niranjala Weerasinghe is a graduate from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka read for the International Relations, Political Science and Sociology in the General Degree in Arts passed out in 1994.

She started her first career in the Education Industry in 1996 at the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing which is a member of the World Marketing Association and the Secretariat for the APMF. She then moved to the Asia Pacific Institute of IT as the Academic Administrator cum Counselor. She joined BCS in 2004 as the regional officer and presently works as the BCS Regional Manager- Sri Lanka. She counts more than 10 years experience in the Education Industry.

Mr. Alanzo Doll, Member, ExCO

Mr. Alanzo Doll has over 17 years experience in the IT industry in the areas of ERP & BI solutions, IT Project Management and Software development. He is presently employed by IBM World Trade Corporation Sri Lanka as their Software IT Architect.
His previous work experience includes Microsoft Sri Lanka where he was employed from the inception of its Sri Lankan subsidiary in 2004 up to 2009. He has been closely working with the NBQSA subcommittee for the past two years in Microsoft’s capacity as strategic sponsor.
He holds a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from the University of Sunderland, UK and is a Member of the British Computer Society. He is also a NCC Diploma holder, Microsoft Certified Professional and has received further industry training in the United States and several countries in South East Asia.

Mr. Buddhika Siddhisena, Member, ExCO

Mr. Buddhika Siddhisena obtained his B.Sc (Physical Science) from University of Colombo. He is also a Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS). At present, Buddhika Siddhisena is the Co-Founder & CTO of THINKCube Systems which specializes in Collaboration Technologies for the Enterprise. Prior to joining THINKcube, he was working as a Technical Consultant at the R&D Lab of
Virtusa (Pvt) Ltd. He has over 10 years of experience in IT, in the areas of FOSS, E-Commerce and Networking Technologies. Buddhika has also been involved through the inception of several leading FOSS projects, such as Sahana Disaster Management System and Tarprobane GNU/Linux Distribution. He is an active member of the Lanka Linux User Group and the Sri Lankan FOSS Community.

Mr. Chandrasiri Weerasekera, Member, ExCO

Mr. Weerasekera joined the BCS Executive Committee last year. He counts over fourteen years of experience with exposure in Technical as well as Managerial aspects of Systems Implementation, Administration, IT Service Delivery and IT Project Management. Mr. Weerasekera had accomplished many large IT projects both locally and internationally. IT Security and IT Strategic Planning are other key interest areas pursued by him. He is a graduate from University of Moratuwa in Computer Science & Engineering and holds a MBA from PIM, University of Sri Jayawadenepura. He is a Chartered Engineer in IT (from the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka) and a Member of British Computer Society (MBCS).

He is currently a Senior Consultant/Director of Advantech Solutions Pvt Ltd. Prior to this, he was attached to Ceylon Tobacco Co and APL Lanka Pvt Ltd. He is also a visiting lecturer attached to University of Moratuwa, lecturing in graduate and undergraduate courses.

Miss Kalani Samarawckrame, Member, ExCO

Miss Kalani Samarawckrame is a 22 year old final year student at Informatics Institute of Technology studying Bsc(Hons) Software Engineering from University of Westminister(UK). She had also completed BCS examinations and holds MBCS status. She is also a SCJP and studying for other Sun Certifications. She has worked at Epic Lanka(Pvt) Ltd. Kalani’s intereststed mainly in the fields of Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence.

 

M.G.Tillekeratne, Member, ExCO

Mr. M.G. Tillekeratne is a chartered member of the BCS and a chartered member of IESL. He graduated in the field of Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering from University of Moratuwa in 1978. He is currently the Deputy General Manager (Information Technology) at the Ceylon Electricity Board. He has worked as a communications engineer, Computer & SCADA systems engineer and project manager for digital microwave network project before becoming the Head of IT in the CEB and has over 29 years of experience in the field of ICT and engineering. He functions as the Chief Judge in the Panel of Judges for NBQSA 2008.

Mr. Ransith Fernando, Member, ExCO

Mr. Ransith Fernando joined the Sri Lanka section  of the BCS last year and worked in the sub committees for the NBQSA and the Lecture Series.  

In his professional life he manages SAP systems across MAS Holdings and is a member of the CIO Council of MAS. His current interests are on the harmonization of data across multiple SAP systems. He has around 20 years of experience in the IT field including management, offshore software development and training.

Ransith has completed the BCS examinations. Additionally holds a NIBM Diploma, Computer Science Degree from the University of Colombo, MBA in IT from the University of Moratuwa. He has received further IT training in Belgium, UK, India, Japan and the US including executive education at Stanford Business School.

Mr. Shanaka Prassanna Rajapakse, Member, ExCO

Mr. Shanaka Prassanna Rajapakse is a member of the British Computer Society. He is reading for the Masters degree in Information Technology of University of KEEL UK and doing the final project at the moment. He is an Executive Committee Member of BCS Sri Lanka Section since 2008. He is currently the Group Senior IT Executive of Finlays Colombo PLC. He has over 13 years of experience in the IT field and has the experience in project management, ERP and administration of Servers and Networks. He holds the membership of Australian Computer Society too.

Vajeendra S Kandegamage, Member, ExCO

Mr. Vajeendra S Kandegamage counts over Fifteen years of experience in Software Development, Project Management, Training, Consultancy and all related field of Information Technology. He holds professional qualification such as Australian Computer Society Examination (ACS) Member of British Computer Society (MBCS) and also holds Charted Status of British Computer Society (CITP).

Substantial part of his industry training was had at Hewlett Packard Singapore, Conrac Germany, and Seven Seas Computers UAE. Currently he handles the work load of Conrac Gmbh within Sri Lankan territory during 2004 - 2006.

Several leading high bracket Tourist hotels in Sri Lanka engaged him as their Consultant in management software due to his expertise in this particular field. He also holds the Product Specialist position of the SMART Management Software and the Director Projects & Planning at the Info Link Systems Lanka Ltd.

Mr. Vajeendra S Kandegamage is the Chairman of the NBQSA Sub Committee for 2009.

The other members are Mr. R. B. Ekanayake and Mr. Ranil Perera.
