M.G.Tillekeratne, Chairman

Mr. M.G. Tillekeratne is a chartered member of the BCS and a chartered member of IESL. He graduated in the field of Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering from University of Moratuwa in 1978. He is currently the Additional General Manager (Distribution Division 4) at the Ceylon Electricity Board. He has worked as a communications engineer, Computer & SCADA systems engineer, Project Manager for digital microwave network project and the Deputy General Manager (Information Technology) before becoming an Additional General Manager in the CEB and has over 30 years of experience in the field of ICT and engineering. He has served as the Chief Judge in the Panel of Judges for NBQSA from 2008 to 2012. Mr. Tillekeratne is serving as a section committee member since 2006/07. He held the post of Treasurer from 2008/09 to 2011/12.

Ruwan Amarasekara - Hon. Secretary

Mr. Ruwan Amarasekara has been a Chartered member of BCS and obtained his MBA from University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He has a Post graduate Diploma in Marketing and is an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. He has been an Executive Committee Member of BCS Sri Lanka Section since 2004. He was extensively involved in many projects carried out by the Sri Lanka Section mainly organising and judging activities of National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) competition. He has over 22 years of experience in IT industry in the areas of IT Project Management, Software Development, System Integration and IT consultancy with both service providers and user organisations. He is currently employed at IBM. Mr. Amarasekara is serving as a section committee member since 2004/05. He is holding the post of Secretary since 2007/08.

K V Kuganathan, Member, ExCO

Mr K V Kuganathan is a member of the is a member of the British Computer Society. He holds B.Sc. (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems at the London Guildhall University and M.Sc In IT Consultancy with Distinction. He currently the Senior Manager – E Banking at Hatton National Bank PLC. He was working as a Technical assistant at Argos Business Solutions U.K.

He has over 16 years of experience in IT industry in the areas of IT Project Management, Software Development, and System Training. He has received further IT training in Singapore, UK, and India. In addition Certified Course Trainer on Appreciative Inquiry conducted by Appreciative Inquiry Committee, U S A in New York.

Professor Gihan Wikramanayake – Immediate Past Chairman (2007/08, 2009/10 - 2011/12)

Professor Gihan Wikramanayke has over 25 years of IT experience in diverse areas of the industry from systems design and development to ICT education. He is currently working as the director of the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC). He served four terms as the Chairman of BCS The Chartered Institute for IT, Sri Lanka Section and has been with BCS executive committee since 2003 and served as the section chair for four years. In 2011 he was appointed for the Council of BCS UK for a three year term.

He was the deputy director and head of department of the UCSC and has played the role of the Academic Coordinator of the flagship Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) degree programme and the first Computer Science Special degree Programme at University of Colombo. Professor Gihan was a visiting researcher at Umea and Stockholm University, Sweden and at University of New Mexico, USA. As an academic he has published many important articles and book chapters on ICT. He has been a frontline speaker at many National and international conferences. He has held positions in other associations such as CSSL and IEEE. Professor Gihan is also a board of director of the Sri Lanka Software Testing Board and Theekshana a UCSC Company. He has been the team leader of many national Olympiad teams and is associated with the National / International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), National / International School's Software Competition, National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA), Young Computer Scientist (YCS) and Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA).

Prof. Gihan holds a PhD and MSc in Computer Science from the University of Wales, United Kingdom. He acquired his BSc in Statistics and Mathematics from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.


Dr. Dileepa De Silva, Member, ExCO

Dr. Dileepa de Silva he is a well-known ICT Management Consultant and a pioneer in managing ICT education in Sri Lanka. He managed one of the largest ICT groups in Sri Lanka which has produced a large number of ICT professionals and graduates to the Industry. Dr. Dileepa de Silva was awarded the ICT Lifetime Achiever Award in 2008. He was a member of electronic committee of EDB in eighties which initiated the Vendors (SLCVA), Training (ACTOS) and Associations of Sri Lanka and founder member of INFOTEL. He was a past president of Sri Lanka Association for Software Industry (SLASI) and past Chairman of British Computer Society, Sri Lanka Section
Dr. R. B. Ekanayake, Member, ExCO
Dr. R B Ekanayake pioneered in bringing ICT to the local banking industry in addition to the enormous contribution to various aspects of business verticals. Dr. Ekanayake is a Board member of Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), and is a founder member as well as the first President of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL). Dr. R B Ekanayake is the first recipient to be honoured by the ICT Lifetime Achiever Awards was in 2007. He had completed over 40 years of service to the ICT industry and had led most of the largest local banks in their ICT modernisation drives.
Vajeendra S Kandegamage, Member, ExCO

Mr. Vajeendra S Kandegamage counts over Fifteen years of experience in Software Development, Project Management, Training, Consultancy and all related field of Information Technology. He holds professional qualification such as Australian Computer Society Examination (ACS) Member of British Computer Society (MBCS) and also holds Charted Status of British Computer Society (CITP).

Substantial part of his industry training was had at Hewlett Packard Singapore, Conrac Germany, and Seven Seas Computers UAE. Currently he handles the work load of Conrac Gmbh within Sri Lankan territory during 2004 - 2006.

Several leading high bracket Tourist hotels in Sri Lanka engaged him as their Consultant in management software due to his expertise in this particular field. He also holds the Product Specialist position of the SMART Management Software and the Director Projects & Planning at the Info Link Systems Lanka Ltd.

Mr. Vajeendra S Kandegamage is the Chairman of the NBQSA Sub Committee for 2009.

Mr. Buddhika Siddhisena, Member, ExCO

Mr. Buddhika Siddhisena obtained his B.Sc (Physical Science) from University of Colombo. He is also a Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS). At present, Buddhika Siddhisena is the Co-Founder & CTO of THINKCube Systems which specializes in Collaboration Technologies for the Enterprise. Prior to joining THINKcube, he was working as a Technical Consultant at the R&D Lab of
Virtusa (Pvt) Ltd. He has over 10 years of experience in IT, in the areas of FOSS, E-Commerce and Networking Technologies. Buddhika has also been involved through the inception of several leading FOSS projects, such as Sahana Disaster Management System and Tarprobane GNU/Linux Distribution. He is an active member of the Lanka Linux User Group and the Sri Lankan FOSS Community.

Mr. Shanaka Prassanna Rajapakse, Member, ExCO

Mr. Shanaka Prassanna Rajapakse is a member of the British Computer Society and a executive committee member for the last 2 years.

Shanaka has over 15 years of experience in the IT industry in the area’s including management, ERP and BI solutions’ project management etc...He was pioneered in implementing the software and automating the cold storage warehouse project which is owned by Finlay’s PLC Srilanka joint venture with Finlay’s U.K and Swire group. He headed the ERP project for Finlay Plantations which comprises of both Udapussellawa and Hapugastanne plantations joint venture with soft systems India.

He has been closely working with the BCS Srilanka NBQSA judging panel and was part of the organizing committee for workshops’ Ceo’s forum etc...He is currently heading the IT for both Agarapathna & Kotagala Plantations managed by Lankem Group.

He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of KEELE, UK and is a Member of the Australian Computer Society too.

Mr. Alanzo Doll, Member, ExCO

Mr. Alanzo Doll has over 17 years experience in the IT industry in the areas of ERP & BI solutions, IT Project Management and Software development. He is presently employed by IBM World Trade Corporation Sri Lanka as their Software IT Architect.
His previous work experience includes Microsoft Sri Lanka where he was employed from the inception of its Sri Lankan subsidiary in 2004 up to 2009. He has been closely working with the NBQSA subcommittee for the past two years in Microsoft’s capacity as strategic sponsor.
He holds a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from the University of Sunderland, UK and is a Member of the British Computer Society. He is also a NCC Diploma holder, Microsoft Certified Professional and has received further industry training in the United States and several countries in South East Asia.

Miss Kalani Samarawckrame, Member, ExCO

Miss Kalani Samarawckrame is a 22 year old final year student at Informatics Institute of Technology studying Bsc(Hons) Software Engineering from University of Westminister(UK). She had also completed BCS examinations and holds MBCS status. She is also a SCJP and studying for other Sun Certifications. She has worked at Epic Lanka(Pvt) Ltd. Kalani’s intereststed mainly in the fields of Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence.

Mr. Sanjeewa Perera, Member, ExCO
Mr. Sanjeeva Perera, a member of BCS, has over 20 years of experience diversified in many areas in the ICT industry. His highly diversified expertise within the software lifecycle ranges from software designing, development, testing, network administration, database administration to IT project management. His career has brought him knowledge in electronics engineering, telecommunication, and electrical engineering. Further he has been a candidate, sought after by many prestigious institutes both local and international, such as SITA, PageNet and The National Medical Products Company Limited in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His overseas experience has given him exposure and confidence in program analysis, widening his vastly diversified skill portfolio.
Sanjeeva is a Microsoft Certified Professional and has been trained at the Huawei University in China and in Singapore. Further, he holds certificates from Linux and Oracle for his proficiency in these technologies. Sanjeeva is professionally qualified in Electronics and Telecommunications engineering from The City & Guilds of London. He holds multiple diplomas and certificates from, Institute for telecommunication Engineers, National Institute of Business Management, Singapore Institute for Management in recognition of his expertise. He has a MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies of Rajarata University.
Sanjeeva serves the section committee as an executive committee member since 2010. He is also a member of NBQSA organizing committee since 2009. Sanjeeva has served NBQSA as a National Level ICT Judge from 2010 onwards. He is currently working at Dialog Axiata PLC in the Enterprise IT division as a Unit Manager.
M Qasid Mukthar, Member, ExCO

Mr. M Qasid Mukthar is a member of the BCS – The Charted Institute for IT. He also holds the professional qualification – Australian Computer Society (ACS). He is new to the ExCo, and has been a part of the NBQSA sub committee.

Qasid counts over 7 years of experience in the software user interface field. He currently works at Ecode Lanka Software (Pvt) Ltd - as a Senior UI Engineer who’s accountable for analyzing the latest industry & design trends, developing design concepts & user interfaces.

Mr. Aruna Perera, Member, ExCO
Mr. Aruna Chandralal Perera. is a Chartered Member of BCS, obtained Special Degree in Computer Science from the Department of Statistics and Computer Science, University of Colombo in 1995. He also poses a Masers Degree in Business Administration specializing in Management of Technology from Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa. He had gone through training in IT project management at NTT corporation,Japan as well as on Computer Application Techniques in Huazhong University of Science and Technology in PR of China.

He has been working as the Unit Head for a large scale ERP development/implementation project in Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) having in-depth expertise in systems architecture, systems development methodologies, systems implementation, change management, technology evaluation, project management and server administration so on. He has also involved with complicated problem solving assignments with respect to new systems developments in areas such as energy billing, web design as well as power station automation at CEB. Before joining CEB, he had worked as the Consultant for a computerization project for SANASA Federation, being appointed by CINTEC.

Niranjala Weerasinghe – Regional Manager

Ms. Niranjala Weerasinghe is a graduate from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka read for the International Relations, Political Science and Sociology in the General Degree in Arts passed out in 1994.

She started her first career in the Education Industry in 1996 at the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing which is a member of the World Marketing Association and the Secretariat for the APMF. She then moved to the Asia Pacific Institute of IT as the Academic Administrator cum Counselor. She joined BCS in 2004 as the regional officer and presently works as the BCS Regional Manager- Sri Lanka. She counts more than 12 years experience in the Education Industry.
