Dr. Prasad to speak on Virtual Reality Applicatons at BCS members day

We look forward to seeing you at the evening. Our guest speaker at this event is Dr. Prasad Wimalaratne he would be talking on Virtual Reality Applications. Prasad Wimalaratne obtained his Ph.D. in Virtual Environments from the University of Salford, United Kingdom. His research interests include virtual reality, computer graphics, mobile computing and semantic web.

Virtual reality generally refers to a computer generated 3D spatial environments that involves the real-time user participation using multimodal interaction. A continuum of applications ranging from the virtual environments to varying degrees of mixed reality application is available in the literature. The scope of the presentation includes an introduction to the virtual reality technologies and its example application in domains such as medicine, engineering, entertainment etc,. The spectrum of applications from desktop entertainment to fully immersive applications and the future directions of VR will be presented during the presentation.
